Three firms get green light to submit proposals

BY Staff   February 08, 2010 17:02

PENETANGUISHENE – Three companies in the running to design and build a replacement for the aging Oak Ridge facility at the Penetanguishene Mental Health Centre have been given six months to submit their bids.
The request for proposals went out last week to Carillion Health Solutions, Integrated Team Solutions and Plenary Health, each of which has been judged to have the requirements to undertake a project of this size and complexity.
The new facility will replace the existing 160-bed Oak Ridge facility and the 20-bed Brébeuf facility.
The goal is also to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification for healthy indoor environments, reduced greenhouse-gas emissions and efficient use of energy, water and other resources.
Once the three firms’ proposals are received, Infrastructure Ontario and Mental Health Centre officials will evaluate them and select the winning bid, likely by late this year.
The new facility will remain in public hands and continue to provide a range of both acute and longer-term psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services.
