Daytime parking ban is unacceptable

February 08, 2010 14:02

Re: Proposed daytime parking ban

As a resident of one of the 16 streets that this ban will affect, I have serious concerns with overall effect of this proposed bylaw.

My home has a single driveway. Most visitors come in the daytime and most of them are elderly or they are staying with us on vacation. In either case, the street parking in front of my home is a requisite. There are no parking options in this area.

The winter nighttime ban is practical and necessary by law as it allow the city staff to clear the snow.

If you live on any of the following streets, you have until Feb. 15 to have this proposed by law denied: Clarence Court, Bernwick Drive, Sylva Street, West Gate, Cook Street, East Gate, College Crescent, Redwood Court, Lonsdale Place, Glenwood Drive, Nelson Street, Hickling Trail (west of Johnston Street), Cobbett Drive, Fletcher Drive, McCuaig Court and Maitland Drive.

As taxpayers, we do in fact employ the city to look after our affairs and we pay dearly for the privilege. Time to say enough is enough.
