Rotary challenging people to support Haiti

Alliston businesses have signed on as drop off locations for people wanting to help the Rotary Club of Alliston send supplies to Haiti.

The Rotary Club has already sent four shelter boxes to the Haiti, which was devastated by a massive earthquake Jan. 12. The local club is challenging everyone in the Alliston area, from individuals to businesses to churches and schools to raise money and make a donation to the shelter box program. These donations are eligible for the federal government's initiative to match Canadian contributions up to $50 million.

The shelter boxes cost $1,000 each and has enough supplies and equipment to keep a group of 10 people going for up to six months.

Donations can be given to any Alliston Rotarian or dropped off at participating businesses. The club is asking for donations of money only, not supplies.

In Alliston, cash or cheques can be dropped off at A New Look Optical, 99 Victoria St. W., Burn's Flowers, 122 Victoria St. W., Re/Max, 20 Victoria St. W., The Chiropractic Life Centre, 180 Parsons Rd., and K.D. Wray/Harvest Gold Financial, 169 Dufferin St. S.

A New Look Optical in Angus, at 4 Pine River Rd., is also a drop off location.
