Local Catholic schools under review

BY Maija Hoggett, Staff   June 30, 2009 14:06

Catholic schools stretching from Angus to Collingwood will have accommodation reviews starting in the new school year,

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will start the pupil accommodation review as soon as it can in September for its Georgian West, Essa and Borden schools.

The schools included in the review are Our Lady of Grace School in Angus, Prince of Peace School in Borden, and Our Lady of Assumption in New Lowell. Collingwood's St. Mary's School and St. Noel Chabanel in Wasaga Beach are also under review.

SMCDSB Manager of Plant Glenn Clarke said the goal is to have the review completed by the end of the next school year.

A committee for the pupil accommodation review will be appointed by board chair John Grise and announced at the next board meeting, June 24.

The review will look at the number of students and staffing to see if changes can be made to improve the working and learning environments.
