Community market on Canada Day

School is officially out for the summer which means that there will be children out and about around the community. Please keep an eye out and drive safely. Hope the summer of 2009 is your best yet.

Angus United Church is having a euchre party on Fri., June 26 at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There will be share the wealth. Refreshments will be served

This coming Wednesday help the Angus and District Lions Club celebrate Canada's 142nd birthday at Angus Community Park. There will be tons to see and do. Mark the date, bring your sunscreen and be prepared to have fun!

Buoys on the Wharf at the Rainbow Mall is sponsoring a community market on Canada Day. Vendors are needed to sell their wares in the parking lot. Bring your own tables and chairs to set up to sell your crafts, jewelry, fresh fruits or vegetables, baked goods, Tupperware, antiques, or Pampered Chef. There is no charge to participate. Please call Sheryl at 705-424-0544 or James at 705-424-5668. The market will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you would like to avoid hearing "I am bored, there is nothing to do" this summer, try the Essa Summer Blast Day Camps. Held at both the Angus Recreation Centre and the Thornton Arena, there will be daily activities and weekly trips to places such as the Metro Toronto Zoo, Rounds Ranch, Santa's Village, Ontario Science Centre, canoeing at Wye Marsh and more. The cost is very reasonable: $130 per week, per child, or $230 per week for two siblings, or $280 per week for three siblings. Registration forms are available at the township office, at both of the Essa libraries or online at www.essatownship.on.ca, click on "Recreation" at the bottom of the home page and it will take you to the links for summer camp.

The communities of Angus and New Lowell have been invited to join the bus trip to Casino Rama on July 7 with the Creemore Big Heart Seniors while the Angus Senior Citizen's Friendship Club's trip to Casino Rama is on hiatus until the fall. To reserve a seat for this trip please call Sylvia at 705-466-5732. The cost is $5 and includes the bus ride and a buffet lunch. The bus departs from B&M Variety in Angus at 9 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. You don't have to be a senior to take part but you must be 19 years old.  

Discovery Canyon Vacation Bible Camp is being held from July 20 to 24 at St. Luke's Church in Creemore. All children ages four to nine are welcome. To register please call 705-466-2206
