Gang wreaks havoc at house

June 22, 2009 11:06

A total of seven teenagers, ranging in age from 15 to 18, face a number of criminal charges after an ugly incident on Sunday, June 21. South Simcoe Police were called to an Innisfil house after several youths had been involved in an altercation and some of them showed up at the house. The victim was dragged out of the house and beaten and kicked on the front lawn. Several of his friends rushed to help and helped the man back into the house while locking the front door. The gang threw objects at the house and were able to force their way in. They tried to attack the victim again without success. Before leaving, they trashed the house. Police arrived and were able to track down all of the assailants, including two girls aged 15 and 16, four boys aged 16 and 17 and one 18-year-old man. The group has been charged with break and enter, assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling and mischief to property. They were given a court date.

Man assaults officer
Both a 48-year-old Innisfil man and a South Simcoe Police officer were taken to hospital after an incident on the 10th Conc. last Friday evening. The officer had pulled over a vehicle when the driver got out of the car and aggressively approached the constable. The man punched the officer and was pepper sprayed in response. The man continued to attack the officer, kicking him several times in the head. To protect himself, the officer drew his baton and struck the man and brought him under control. Paramedics took both to Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment. The officer was not seriously hurt. The driver was charged with assaulting police and assault to resist arrest.

They were charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000. They were released from custody after promising to appear in Barrie youth court in August.

Domestic assault
A 45-year-old Lefroy man has been charged with domestic assault after his girlfriend told police she had been pushed and assaulted by the man. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
