Man jailed over fence squabble

June 01, 2009 11:06

A 41-year-old Innisfil man was taken into custody by South Simcoe Police following a verbal dispute with his neighbour concerning their mutual fence last Friday. The fence has been a source of ongoing disagreements between the two leading to the courts ordering the man to stop communicating with his neighbour. He chose to disobey the order and landed in a holding cell overnight to await a bail hearing on May 30.

Errant 911 call leads to arrest
A Cookstown woman who called 911 on May 29 and then abruptly hung up had to face the music when police finally located her. Police went to her residence in response to the call, but no one was home. They found her about an hour later feeling none the worse for the wear. The reason for the call was an argument. The woman was under court orders to abstain from drinking alcohol. She was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing on May 30.

Thieves target unlocked vehicles
Police are investigating a rash of thefts from vehicles in the Alcona area that took place last Friday night. Items taken include cash, CDs and a laptop computer. Once again, South Simcoe Police urge people to make sure they lock their vehicles at all times. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 436-2141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Overstayed his welcome
Police were called to Tim Hortons in Stroud on May 31 concerning a man who refused to leave. Officers found the man a short distance away on Yonge Street, unaware of where he was. He had been out golfing with friends and somehow had become separated from his foursome. Police noticed he was quite unsteady on his feet and arrested the 46-year-old Alliston man for public intoxication. He enjoyed free lodgings for the night back at headquarters and released when he became sober.
