Candy apple red Vet stolen

May 19, 2009 11:05

A 1968 Chevrolet Corvette went missing from an Innisfil garage sometime on May 13. Two neighbours noticed a garage door was slightly ajar, saw the vehicle was gone and notified police. The owner of the car was away from the house at the time and was notified. The Corvette is described as being candy apple red with a black convertible top, side exhaust pipes and chrome rims. The plate number is AYFS 668. Anyone with information is asked to call South Simcoe Police at 436-2141, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8437.

Domestic dispute
Police were called to an Innisfil residence on Monday, May 18 at approximately 10:30 a.m. after a domestic dispute was called in. It turned out a common-law couple were having an argument when the woman tried to leave. The man then threw a cell phone at her, hitting her in the back as she walked out the door. The woman was not hurt and a 26-year-old Alcona man was charged with assault. The couple has a child and the Children’s Aid Society was notified. The man has a June court date.

Impaired fare
A trip to the big city was a bit too much for an Innisfil man last Saturday night. A cab driver in Barrie called police after the man passed out in the vehicle before he could give his address. Numerous attempts to wake the man failed and finally, paramedics were summoned. They were successful in rousing the man, but he would not tell police where he lived or who could look after him. He was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was held in a cell until he was sober.

Drug bust yields haul
The South Simcoe Police street crime unit executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on May 15 at an Innisfil residence. Once inside, officers found a quantity of cash, cocaine, marijuana, growing equipment, weight scales and other equipment used in the production of drugs. A 55-year-old Innisfil man faces two charges of being in possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was released from custody and will appear in criminal court in June.
While police were watching the residence, a woman entered for a short time and then left. Police stopped her vehicle and discovered cocaine. As a result, a 42-year-old Innisfil woman faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

ATV driver runs amok
Last Friday night just before 9 p.m., a police officer noticed an all-terrain vehicle driving erratically on Pinegrove Avenue. An attempt to stop the driver resulted in the ATV speeding up and entering a wooded area. Police cordoned off the area and began a search. The driver had abandoned his vehicle but a police dog tracked him down quickly. The man was taken back to headquarters where he blew well over the legal limit for alcohol. A check of his record revealed he was wanted on a warrant for failing to pay family support. He was also prohibited from driving. The 44-year-old man, of no fixed address, now faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving with more than 80 mgs. of alcohol in his blood system, driving while prohibited, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from police. He was held overnight for a bail hearing on May 16.

Man attacks police
Shortly after midnight on May 16, officers on bike patrol along St. Johns Road saw a man who looked like he had had too much to drink. The man was highly agitated and assaulted the officers when they tried to take him into custody. One of the officers was kicked. The 22-year-old Innisfil man was taken into custody and now faces a bevy of charges, including public intoxication, assaulting police and two counts of assault while resisting arrest. He was released when sober and will appear in criminal court in June.
