Meat recall continues to grow

Almost 50 more meat items have been added to a product recall list, as the number of deaths related to the listeriosis outbreak rises to eight.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency added the items, most of which are pre-packaged sandwiches and meat platters, early Friday.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, all of the confirmed deaths have occurred in Ontario.

As of Thursday another seven deaths, four in Ontario, one in B.C, one in Saskatchewan and one in Quebec were still under investigation.

There have been 29 confirmed cases of the illness, 22 in Ontario, four in B.C., one in Saskatchewan and two in Quebec.

Thirty-six cases are still under investigation in Ontario, B.C. Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
