•CONTACT’s Community Kitchen Spring 2008 Good Food Series continues April 30 with Let’s Do Brunch, May 7 is Moroccan Magic, and May 14 is Girls and Guys Night Out. All classes run Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the cost is $35. Class size is limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Registration and pre-payment is required. •The Alliston Golden Bells will support the Cyclist Sea to Sea Fundraiser to raise money to help eliminate poverty Thurs., May 1 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a program at the Alliston Christian Reformed Church with proceeds to cyclists Corinne Smienk and Sarah Terpstra. Refreshments and a silent auction will follow the program. For more information, please call 705-435-5103.

•Probus Club meets again Tues., May 13 at 10 a.m. at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort. Anyone interested in membership or in attending as a guest, please call Norm at 705-435-9322 or e-mail normanbesse@rogers.com. There will be a special joint meeting with the Ladies Probus Club at 10 a.m. on Mon., May 26 at the Nottawasaga Inn.

•The Alliston Historical Society is meeting Wed., May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum on the Boyne. Mary McBride will be speaking on the art of stained glass. Everyone is invited to attend.

•Living Faith Community Presbyterian in Baxter is inviting residents to Wit and Wisdom For Seniors the first Thursday of each month. All ages are welcome. The church is on Murphy Road in Baxter. May 1st will be Anne Brolley of Hummingbird Enterprises and she will discuss Gardening for Seniors and will show tools that make work in the garden easier. June 5th will feature someone from the Heart and Stroke Foundation speaking on the risk factors for heart and stroke. All are welcome.

•The New Tecumseth Singers are performing at their traditional songs and supper fundraising event, to be held on Sat., May 3 at the Woodington Lake Golf Club. Tickets for the event, which includes dinner, concert and silent auction, are available for $45 by calling 905-729-0363. For more information contact new.tecumseth.singers@gmail.com

•The Alliston Christian Women’s Club presents Sharron Beaton speaking on Nutritious Meals Made Easy at Knox Hall Tues., May 13 at 9:30 a.m. For a reservation, call Carolyn at 705-435-1785 or Angelica at 705-434-9438. The cost is $5. Please bring a mug.

•Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Simcoe is searching for in school mentors in Adjala-Tosorontio and Alliston. If you have an extra hour per week and would like to donate your time, there are 22 children waiting for a special friend to visit them during the school day. •Soroptimist International is a non-profit organization that betters the lives of women and girls locally and abroad. They meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 46 Wellington St. W. in Alliston. The meetings run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. They are expanding and encourage anyone who is interested to attend their meetings. For more information, contact Laura Orr at 705-435-9821.

•Come on out and join in on the fun with a Community Euchre Night at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays at St. James Church Hall in Hockley. Admission is $3 and includes a light lunch. Everyone is welcome.

•Alliston Pentecostal Church is providing free Friday night dinners. This takes place every Friday night at the Alliston Fellowship Hall, 41 Paris St. at 5:45 p.m.
