As adults, we are often guilty of putting down young people and their behaviours. Most teenagers are decent, law-abiding citizens, yet we tend to lump them in together with the few who break the law and cause disturbances.
This came to mind when we were leaving the parking lot of the funeral home on the way to burying our uncle, Bill Dawson. As the cars pulled onto the street following the hearse, a young man in a car whipped off his hat as the procession passed him. His gesture of respect really touched our hearts.
Many of us can recall situations when young people have done something kind or decent or selfless. I think it's important to mention those incidents the next time we are among a group of adults who are grumbling about how bad the kids are today.
