Lisle Legion invites sweethearts to dinner

The Angus branch of the Royal Canadian Legion's public speaking contest will be held this Sun., Jan. 28 at the Legion. The contest will be judged in two categories: Junior, Grades 4-6 and, Intermediate, Grades 7-9.

 

The top three entries in all schools in both categories will be presenting their speeches.

Congratulations go out to all students who have participated at the branch level. First-place submissions will go on to be judged at the next level (Zone, District, etc.). If you would like more information about this event please contact Heather Jordan, Youth and Education chair at 705-424-0679. Good luck to all the students who will be participating this weekend.

Do something special for your sweetie this Valentine's Day. Lisle Legion is having a Valentine's Dinner and Dance on Sat., Feb. 10. Tickets are $20 each and must be purchased by Feb. 2. Reserved seating. Please call 705-424-6879 or 705-424-6152 for more information.

The Angus Senior Citizens Friendship Club hosts a trip to Casino Rama on the first Monday of each month. The next trip will be Mon., Feb. 5. A cost of $5 covers bus transportation and a noon meal buffet. To reserve a seat on the bus and for further information please call Floy Catt at 705-428-2113. All are welcome to attend.

The next breakfast at Lisle Legion is Sun., Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. till noon. Adults eat for $5.25, children under 12, $2.50. Breakfast includes eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes or french toast, beans, home fries, toast, juice and coffee.
