Essa pre-approves $1 million in capital projects

BY Matthew Talbot, Staff   January 28, 2010 17:01

Essa council pre-approved several major capital projects at a preliminary budget meeting, to push them forward and get work started. The projects are estimated to cost more than $1 million.

Capital projects for 2010 pre-approved by council are the purchase of a replacement pumper truck after one was wrecked in a crash ($288,997), a rehabilitation of the 10th Line from County Road 21 to the 20th Sideroad ($882,500), a one-kilometre project on the 20th Sideroad west of County Road 10 ($121,600) and the replacement of the currently failing King Street Bridge ($160,000). The total cost of these projects is $1,458,100, but $260,000 in insurance proceeds from the crash covers the bulk of the cost of the fire truck, bringing the total impact on the levy to $1,198,100.
