ANGUS - Angus United Church is having a euchre party on Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. The entry fee is $5. There is share the wealth and refreshments will be served.

The Helping Hand store, located on Commerce Drive is holding a $10 bag sale on Nov. 26, 27 and 28.

Zion Presbyterian Church is holding a spaghetti supper on Nov. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Adults eat for $7.50, children eat for $3, or a family (two adults and two or more children under the age of 15 years) can eat for $20. Take out is available.

Our Lady of Grace, located at 27 Centre St., is presenting a winter wonderland themed Christmas Gala Dinner on Nov. 28. Cocktails will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. with dinner to follow. Enjoy a prime rib feast and a delectable dessert table with a chocolate fountain. The perfect venue for business, family or holiday party.  Tickets are $25 each and are being sold until Nov. 25. The Lisle Legion is serving breakfast this Sun., Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. till noon.  Adults eat for $5.50, children under 12, $2.50. Breakfast includes eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes or french toast, beans, home fries, toast, juice and coffee.  All are welcome. For more information please call 705-424-6879 or 705-424-6152.

The Christmas Cheer campaign for Angus, New Lowell, Baxter, Utopia and Borden is underway again for this year, and your assistance is needed. There are many families in our area who are in need at this time of the year. Christmas Cheer is here to help. Non-perishable food, new, unwrapped toys, and money are what is required. Various businesses and local schools have offered to become 'drop-off centres' for the donations. Coin boxes will be at a number of businesses. All the money raised is used to provide turkeys, fresh fruits and vegetables, gift certificates, food vouchers, as well as topping up the hampers. Your support is urgently needed.

The Angus Mobile Home Park Hall on Cecil at Third Street is where you go to apply for assistance. Please come in person. The following are the application dates: Dec. 1 and 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.;  Dec. 2 and 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring proof of identification, proof of permanent residence, proof of income and benefits (including Child Tax Credit), proof of expenses (rent, mortgage, and utilities), and proof of age of dependant children.

The Angus Legion is holding a bake and white elephant sale on Dec. 5 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Rent a table for $15, call 705-424-3780 to reserve.

The 39th annual turkey and ham shoot will be held on Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. at 6831 County Rd. 27, one kilometre south of Thornton. For more information call Mike at 705-458-9279.

The annual Lisle Santa Claus Parade will be held on Dec. 6 starting at 1:30 p.m.  Anyone interested in submitting an entry into the parade can phone Scott at 705-424-0769. High school students needing community service hours can phone Raychel at 705-424-0849.
