54 Plus Centre draw for handmade bench July 11

54 Plus Seniors Newsstand

BY Marilynn Cook, Columnist   July 02, 2009 18:07

Rain or Shine! These days we don't know what to expect but whatever the weather decides to be on Mon., July 27 the 54 Plus Centre's 41st anniversary picnic will go as planned.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the PPG Pavilion on Church Street South behind the Alliston fire hall.

Bring your favorite dish, casserole or salad, a lawn chair, blanket or cushion and join us for some good food and old fashion fun and games. If you have any special games bring them along too.

Cake and refreshments will be provided by the 54 Plus Seniors Centre. Please plan to join us for this last event of the season.

The Gibson Centre held a Canada Day Open House on Wednesday to recognize our great county's 142nd birthday and the second one for the Gibson Centre. The event was also to kick off the sales of the $100 draw tickets for the Gibson Centre's fundraiser, so get yours today if you want a chance at the two early-bird draws.

The 54 Plus members helped with the pancake breakfast for this event and also have tickets available for the draw if you want one.

54 Plus Centre activities except the bid euchre and bridge are now taking a break for the summer. Watch for startup dates for these in this column.

Bid euchre winners for Thurs., June 24 were Ralph Layman and Helen Hanna and for Mon., June 29 winners were Peter Brown and Thelma Murray.

The last regular euchre winners of the season last Saturday were Cora Gray and Laureen Little.

Bridge winners for Fri., June 25 were Anita Pennings, Rhea Alderson and Bill Wakefield.

Joy Graham wants me to remind you that the next Rama bus goes on Tues., July 28 and she wants it to be full so give her a call at 705-435-2125. There are a couple of tentative dates for our annual Christmas Gift and Bake sale. Either Sat., Oct. 31 or Sat., Nov., 21 are being looked into at this point so if you are a crafter and would like to participate please give me a call at 905-729-2717 for further information on date and available space.

Get your ticket for the handmade bench draw set for Sat., July 11. Tickets can still be purchased at $2 each or three for $5. Support our club by purchasing your ticket today.

Our fall season of events will be back in full swing at our general meeting on Mon., Sept. 21 at noon.

This will be a potluck lunch and a guest speaker from the VON will tell us about their Adult Day Programs available to our seniors in this area. Have a save and happy holiday everyone. See you at the picnic.
