Hwy 9 reopened after crash

June 25, 2009 11:06

A 35-year-old Pottageville woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on Highway 9 west of Schomberg this morning.

At about 8:45 a.m., the driver of a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee lost control of the vehicle. It crossed into the eastbound lane before striking a hydro pole and rolling onto its roof.

Police are investigating and are not yet sure why the driver crossed into the other lane.

Highway 9 between the 15th Sideroad of New Tecumseth and the 12th Concession of King was closed for about three hours while police investigated and  repairs were made to downed wires.

The victim was taken to Southlake Regional Health Centre with serious injuries. First responders initially called in an air ambulance because the woman was unconscious. It was called off after she regained consciousness at the scene.

OPP tactical collision investigators were called in to piece together the crash.
