Show some respect for soccer fields

June 19, 2009 20:06

I have been a soccer coach for the Alliston Soccer Club for eight years now and year after year I go to the fields to coach that we use around town and I am tired of seeing the nets being pulled out of the ground, mesh being torn apart and beer bottles lying on the fields.

For some it may not be a big concern but to those who volunteer their time to keep the fields neat and up to par for the kids to play on or for the many coaches who volunteer their time to give the kids in our community a sport that they can learn and have fun playing, it's frustrating when they continue to see this stuff happen.

I know it may never stop but it would be really nice if people feel they still need to continue to do this, please stop and think before damaging, upsetting or littering beer bottles on town property.

I am there to coach children not to pick up litter that is not mine or fix things that I did not damage.
