Lions ready to roar for Canada Day

Summer is finally here! June 21 is the summer solstice so enjoy the longest day of the year and stay safe for the summer of 2009.

Happy Father's Day! Wishing all the dad's out there a very relaxing day. Put those lawnmowers away for today, the grass will still be there tomorrow.

New Lowell Campground Conservation Park, located at 2894 Hogback Rd., is holding a yard sale on June 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a refreshment stand, plant sale, and St. James A.C.W. bake table. Come out and buy some treasures and stay for lunch.

The Angus Union Cemetery Decoration Day is being held this Sun., June 21. The service begins at 2 p.m.

Angus United Church is having a euchre party on June 26 at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $5. There will be share the wealth. Refreshments will be served

Only 12 more days until the Angus and District Lions Club throw a huge party to celebrate Canada's 142nd birthday at Angus Community Park. There will be tons to see and do. Mark the date, bring your sunscreen and be prepared to have fun!

The community of Angus and New Lowell have been invited to join the bus trip to Casino Rama on July 7 with the Creemore Big Heart Seniors while the Angus Senior Citizen's Friendship club's trip to Casino Rama is on hiatus until the fall. To reserve a seat for this trip please call Sylvia at 705-466-5732. The cost is $5 and includes the bus ride and a buffet lunch. The bus departs from B&M Variety in Angus at 9 a.m. and returns at 4 p.m. You don't have to be a senior to take part but you must be 19 years old.

Discovery Canyon Vacation Bible Camp is being held from July 20 to 24 at St. Luke's Church in Creemore. All children ages four to nine are welcome. To register please call 705-466-2206
