The Beeton and Bond Head Lions have held the Harley Davidson Motorcycle draw with much success as a fundraiser for several years.

This year the clubs have decided to drop the motorcycle draw in favour of a new lottery. A lottery with food and gas as the featured prizes is the new fundraiser.

The new lottery will consist of four prizes. First prize will be $2,000 in food vouchers, second prize will be $1,500 in gas, third will be $1,000 in food vouchers and fourth will be $500 in gas.

Tickets are being sold at $10 each and will be available from Lion members as well as various locations in the area. The draw will take place on Dec. 23, 2008. Only 2,500 tickets will be sold.

The proceeds from the draw will go to various Lion projects such as Lions Camp Dorset for Dialysis, Ontario Camp for the Deaf, Lake Joseph Camp for the Blind and Camp Huronda fo Diabetes. Other programs include the Lions Dogguides operated by the Lions Foundation of Canada.

Locally the Lions support a number of projects and activities. Some of those projects and activities include minor hockey, soccer, Girl Guides , Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Christmas Hamper Program, free skate at Beeton Arena, the Story Dog program, Stevenson Memorial Hospital, public school awards and assisting local individuals and families in need.
