Santa Claus is lacing up his skates for a free community skate at the Beeton arena.

The event is open to everyone wants to skate for an hour, or wants to get a photo taken with Santa. It is happening Dec. 7.

Pat Jordan of Royal Lepage RCR is hosting the event in support of local food banks and the Children's Aid Society of Simcoe County. Everyone is invited to attend the skate and people are asked to bring a donation of a non-perishable food item or a non-violent toy.

The Children's Aid takes gifts for children up to the age of 16 years and is lacking in donations for older children.

The Beeton Arena skate runs from 1:30 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. Dec. 7.

Gift bags are being prepared for children at the skate 12 years and under. To make sure there are enough gifts, anyone planning to attend with children under 12 years should register by e-mailing pjordan@royallepage.ca or by call 905-729-3000 and ask for Peggy.
