Cookstown Light Up Night takes place in the village this evening (Fri., Nov. 14).

Cookstown is lighting up many hearts tonight (Fri., Nov. 14)  in its annual Light Up Night.

Over 20,000 people come to Cookstown every year to join in the many festivities held in the annual Light Up the Night in celebration of Christmas.

From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Nov. 14, Cookstown will be showered in many lights, and storefront decorations while holding countless events.

A Town Crier and a newly decorated Christmas Tree Lighting will happen at 6:30 p.m. During the evening people can shop and eat delicious Christmas treats all while listening to roaming carolers.

A parade will happen at 8:30 p.m. featuring the Georgian Bay Steam Show, with a ham supper occurring at the Cookstown United Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. And of course Santa will be there for all the kids to visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Cookstown Chamber of Commerce.

Cookstown will also hold the Around the Corners Studio Tour, Nov 14 and 15.

The Cookstown Outlet Mall is celebrating the holiday Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. with seasonal décor and live entertainment.

Cookstown can be found at the corners of Highway 89 and County Road 27.
