Vice president Ron Archibald was one of the members who tabled his resignation. The others were the technical director, tyke convenor and ice scheduler. AA rep convenor Mike Stamcos also resigned his position although TNT president Donna Horan said Stamcos' decision was based on outside work commitments.
There are also openings on the TNT executive for a secretary, who stepped down in September, and a fundraising director, a position Horan said was not filled at the last election for board members.
Horan said there has been a rift in the TNT board for the past six to eight months.
Earlier this year some questioned the administrator position, whose salary increased from $15,000 a year to $30,000 a year.
Horan said allegations the organization is in debt are also false.
"We did business with a local company that got into financial trouble and unfortunately we got caught (up in it). It was $20,000 and the board was aware of it, it was in the financial statement," said Horan.
The boardroom rifts started to surface publicly in October, when the directors voted narrowly in favour of dissolving and having the membership elect a new board Nov. 26. That decision was overturned at Monday night's meeting. Horan said it would have been costly, and could have resulted in no changes to the board.
Applications for the open positions will be accepted until Nov. 17. The board is meeting next week to appoint the new directors for the remainder of the season. A new board of directors will be elected by the membership at TNT's annual general meeting in April.
To be eligible for vice president, you must have served two consecutive years on the board in the past five years. If the position can't be filled that way, any member in good standing can assume the position once appointed by the board.
People interested in the positions can e-mail Horan at donnahoran@zing-net.ca.
It's important to note that none of the infighting that has taken place with the board has affected TNT Tornados teams in any way. Games and tournaments are taking place as scheduled.
