A Hornets player tries to step around Erin Shamrock goalie Lucas Reid and tap in a goal.

The question floating around the Georgian Mid Ontario Hockey League circuit these days is who will finally put a stop to the Alliston Hornets.

After 10 games the Hornets have dominated every game they've played.

They are averaging almost eight goals per game scoring 77 times in the first 10 games of the season. After three blow-outs over the weekend, the Alliston squad is solidly in first place.

On Thursday a road trip to Stayner ended with an 8-2 win over the Siskins.

The Hornets came out strong scoring five times in the first period to set the tone for the rest of the night.

Left winger Chad Camirand scored a hat trick to put his point total in the second place slot behind Jason Campeau. The two are tied for points with Campeau having a one-goal advantage in scoring over Camirand after ten games.

The team returned to Alliston Friday for a home game against the Erin Shamrocks. The game started with a hard shot from Erin's Kyle Bennett that bounced off net minder Troy Dowswell's pad and dribbled over the goal line. But that early goal was all the Shamrock's offence could muster for the night.

The Hornets scored twice in the first period, three times in the second and twice again in the third frame.

Hornet centre Ryan Algar picked up four points with a single goal and three assists.

Kyle McDowell had a four-point night as well making good on a hat trick and one assist to Algar in the first period.

Camirand picked up two more goals with Thomas Faris getting the Hornets seventh goal in the third period.

The final was 7-1.

Hornet winger Thomas Faris said despite the high scoring games, the squad is still looking to a strong defence to keep them ahead.

"We're not worried right now about how many goals we score, we're more worried about how many they score on us. Our goal is to keep it under two. We need to stop them from scoring. Come playoffs, that's who's going to win. The games in the playoffs are never high scoring."

The Hornets were back at the New Tec Rec centre on Sunday for a 6:30 start against the Mildand Flyers.

The Flyers have had a rough start this year going winless for the season so far.

Algar opened the scoring early in the first period getting the first of his two of the game after taking a pass from Faris.

The second goal came at the midway mark when Camirand made a long pass from the blue line to Campeau who lined up the shot then rifled the puck into the top left corner.

Hornet Randy Cox got a hat trick after scoring twice in the second and putting one between the posts midway through the third.

Campeau picked up his second of the night late in the frame.

The win gave goaltender Brenton MacKinnon the shutout.

The squad returns to the New Tec Rec Complex on Sun., Oct 26, to face the Penetang Kings.
