Novice Reps win season opener

Novice Rep

TNT Novice AA team coached by Chris Beausaert and his staff, launched the 2008 season with a 4-2 win over the visiting Newmarket team at the New Tecumseth Recreation Complex Sunday afternoon.

Newmarket scored early in the first period, but TNT battled back one minute later with a goal from Jordan Maiolino, assisted by Remie Druin.

Later in the first, a TNT goal from Ben Beausaert assisted by Dawson Foerster, gave the TNT team an early lead.

Second period action continued for TNT with Beausaert scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by Foerster and Rhys Brown.

Later on in the period, Nathan Smilsky scored for TNT assisted by Druin and Foerster.

An early third period goal from Newmarket was not enough to prevent the win.

Solid goaltending from Quinn Bigcanoe and Curtis Latter helped the team as they were tested frequently throughout the game.

Atom AE Rep

The TNT Atom AE Rep team started the year off against last year's number one team with a flurry of goals.

Leading the attack was Zack Manifold with a goal five minutes into the game.

A couple of minutes later Austin Rykman put one behind the Markham netminder. The second period saw two more goals; one from Jay Rutledge and the second from Braelan Morin, ending the second period with a 4-1 lead for TNT.

The attack did not stop with four more goals in the third period by Dylan Scuccimarri, Cole Cousins, another Rykman, and the final goal by Gavin Hitchcock with a blast from the blueline.

The TNT boys left the ice with an 8-1 victory. It was a job well done by the whole team to hold Markham to a single goal.
