Angus native and current Alliston resident "Fighting Irish" Jake O'Reilly is organizing a six-bout wrestling event at the Essa Arena in Angus Sat., Sept. 20.

Professional wrestling is serious business for Jake O'Reilly.

To wrestling fans across Ontario he is known as "Fighting Irish," Jake O'Reilly, a bare-knuckled brawler.

O'Reilly, who was raised in Angus but currently lives in Alliston, also doubles as a promoter of wrestling and is organizing a card at the Essa Recreation Centre in Angus next Sat., Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. which is being billed as Anarchy in Angus.

O'Reilly has been wrestling for more than five years and was trained for the mat game by "Showtime," Eric Young, a wrestler who appears on national television as part of the Total Nonstop Action (TNA) roster.

O'Reilly has been a fan of wrestling since he was a youngster, and is trying to bring that style of wrestling to the area. He said the show in Angus is suitable for the entire family.

"It's something that people of our generation will like, but people who have never been to a wrestling event before will have a great time," he said.

The card features six contests including O'Reilly facing his long-time nemesis Tornado in a Lumberjack match.

"It's a great chance for me to wrestle in front of family and friends," he said. "Not to mention, it's always nice to have the chance to beat up Tornado again."

The other attraction is a wrestler from Angus called Crazzy Steve, who is decked out in face paint and a loincloth and is known for biting his opponents.

"Steve is crazy, hence the name," O'Reilly joked. "He's very popular with kids and adults, but I'm lucky he's on my side."

The card also features an Ontario championship bout between Brad Martin, Cody 45, Tyler Tirva and Barrie's Anthony Darko.

Tickets are available at Naturally For You Health Store in Angus (705-424-5511). For more information visit www.gcwe.ca
