Blue skies and bright sunshine helped Tottenham Community Week off to a great start over the weekend. Even pets got involved. Above, Jessie and Kate Dockeray give Banner a shower and get a little wet themselves at the 10th annual dog wash and barbecue sponsored by Dr. Cynthia Post and Procyon Wildlife. Community Week events continue through Sunday. For a complete list, see the attached story.

Tottenham Community Week provides 10 days of fun and memories. The fun started last Friday and carries on until July 13. Here are a list the events.

Fri., July 4

•11 a.m. to noon - Baby and Me Yoga. Learn yoga and a massaging technique for babies. 13 Queen St. N. No charge.

•3 p.m. to 5 p.m - Pony Rides at Foxbury Farms. Rides are $2 with money going to charity. 1148 10 Sideroad, north of Highway 9.

•6:30 p.m. - Ladies lob-ball tournament at Keogh Park.

•4 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. - Stars of the Town cinema showcase featuring a collection of films made between 1947 and 1949 that explore the daily lives of local residents. Lions Hall/Tottenham Community Centre.

Sat., July 5

•8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Pancake breakfast at Tottenham fire hall. Cost is $4.

•9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lions Fest  - The Lions are closing Mill Street East for a party, including an inflatable castle, dunk tank, slides, vendors, food games prizes and bike safety training.

•8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - Martial arts for children ages five to seven. Classes for kids eight years old and up are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Classes at San Do Jutsu Karate School on Queen Street north of Mill Street.

•9 a.m. - Ladies lob-ball tournament continues throughout day.

•10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Kids Garden project at Seasons Floral Studio, 17 Queen St. N.

•11 a.m. - Opening ceremonies.

•11 a.m. - Ladies lob-ball family fun day, with low-cost games and great prizes. At Keogh Park.

•11 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Hog Wild Party on Mill St. - Live music, street dancing, food and fun. Sponsored by Happy Hog with Man of Yorke and J. Mark’s.

•Noon - Charity Dog Wash and Barbecue at Tottenham Home Hardware. All proceeds donated to Wildlife Care and the Weekend to End Breast Cancer.

•2 p.m. - European Hand-Tied Demonstration at Seasons Floral Studio.

Sun., July 6

•8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Pancake breakfast at Tottenham fire hall. Cost is $4.

•8 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Bike rodeo at the fire hall will teach riders about bicycle safety.

•8:30 a.m. - TNT Express football teams triple header at Mel Mitchell Field. Pancake tailgate party  at 8:30, and the first kickoff is at 10 a.m.

•9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Classic Car, Truck, Tractor and Snowmobile Show at Tottenham Conservation Area. Classic cars, food and live music.

•10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Family yoga at Keogh Park.

•11 a.m. - Ladies; Lob-ball continues.

•South Simcoe Railway runs Sunday to Tuesday. Call 905-936-5815 for ticket prices.

Mon. July 7

•9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Dragon-inspired sidewalk art outside the library branch on Queen Street. For children from two to 10 years old if accompanied by an adult.

•11 a.m. to noon - Craft and Play session at Balance Yoga Studio, 13 Queen St.

Tue., July 8

•9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mixed martial arts/grappling classes for adults (13 and up) at San Do Jutsu Karate School on Queen Street.

•7 p.m. Tottenham firefighters open house at fire hall. Meet the firefighters and get an up-close look at the equipment and a day in the life of a firefighter.

Wed., July 9

•9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. and/or 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. - Kickboxercise class at San Do Jutsu

• 7 p.m.  Annual wagon rides through Tottenham. Meet at Keogh Park.


Thurs., July 10

•9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mixed martial arts/grappling classes for adults (13 and up) at San Do Jutsu Karate School on Queen Street.

•12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Laugh out Loud children’s reading program at library.

•11 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Robotics demonstration at Tottenham Lions Hall. Admission by donation.

•7 p.m. Lions bingo at Tottenham Community Centre. Doors open at 6 p.m., and early bird at 6:30 p.m. There is a $1,200 jackpot.

• 8 p.m. - Pub crawl. Start at Man of Yorke, The Tottenham Legion, The Village Pizza, J. Mark’s Bar and Grill, Happy Hog Roadhouse or Wild Wing.

Fri., July 11

•All Day - Heat Wave Invitational Youth Soccer Tournament - Come out and watch one of the many games throughout Tottenham and Beeton.

•4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tumblers Yoga for parents and toddlers aged two to five at Balance Yoga Studio.
