A 31-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with several offences after he crashed his minivan into the Mansfield General Store and then drove away.
Dufferin OPP say the crash caused extensive damage to the store and merchandise.
Police note the man's four-year-old daughter was in the van at the time of the incident, which happened around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The store, located on Airport Road, is a popular stop with weekenders coming to the area because, among other services, it has an LCBO outlet.
Police say that no one was injured as a result of the crash but motorists, in 911 cellphone calls to the OPP, reported the van was being driven erratically after leaving the scene.
Thanks to the callers who passed along information, police say they were able to locate the van, a 1997 GMC, on Dufferin County Road 18, just north of Highway 89, and make an arrest.
The driver of the van was subsequently charged with impaired operation, failing to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation of a vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and obstruction of a police officer.
