Jakob Bielskis

A community fireworks display is being held in Alliston’s west end Monday to help raise money to send a baby to China to receive a rare treatment for an optical disease.

Five-month-old Jakob Bielskis was diagnosed with Optical Nerve Hypoplasia, which causes blindness. Through Internet research, Jakob’s parents found a stem cell treatment centre in China, which has had success in treating the condition.

The event will start at 9 p.m. at the field near the 8th Avenue Youth Centre, with fireworks at dusk. Bracelets are being sold to raise money for Jakob.
