The presentation, "The Lost Post - 1917" is an anthology of selections from plays, poetry, music, primary source documents and original work. Centre Dufferin District High School students in Orangeville are staging the performances.
One of the main plays is Dermot Bolger's "Walking the Road." It’s the tale of a young Irish poet and soldier named Frank Ledwidge who is among Dufferin County's own "Lost Boys" from the war. But the character represents any regular soldier who was enlisted.
High school students were chosen for the play to add a touch of realism, since many soldiers during the First World War were high school aged.
The Lost Post - 1917 will be presented Thurs., June 5 and Fri., June 6. The doors of the museum open at 7 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. each night.
Tickets are $10 per person, and a portion of the proceeds will support the museum. Tickets are being sold at Booklore in Orangeville, Jellycraft Bakery in Shelburne, the Dufferin County Museum and Archives and at the door the evenings of the performances.
Dufferin County Museum and Archives is located on the northeast corner of Highway 89 and Airport Road.
