•CONTACT’s Legacy Courtyard Campaign is offering residents a way to leave a mark on the community. Personalized, engraved heritage stones are available and will be placed in the walkway of CONTACT’s new Community Service Centre South Simcoe in downtown Alliston. With a donation of $175 or $375, a special heritage stone will be engraved with the message of your choice. Limited quantities are available. Stones must be ordered by Aug. 31. Proceeds will directly support CONTACT’s community services and programs and help with the development of CONTACT’s Community Service Centre South Simcoe. •Mansfield Presbyterian Church will host its Annual Bake and Plant Sale Fri., May 16 at 9 a.m. in the Orange Hall, Mansfield. Everyone welcome. Lunch will be available.

•Line Dancers continue to kick up their heels at the Gibson Centre every Tuesday morning. Intermediate classes are at 9:30 a.m. and beginners at 11:15 a.m. Have fun while keeping fit. There are hundreds of dances on the schedule. For more information, call Ann at 705-435-2433.

•CONTACT’s Community Kitchen Spring 2008 Good Food Series continues May 14 with Girls and Guys Night Out. May 21 is the Spring Pantry, and May 28 is Gourmet De-Lite. All classes run Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the cost is $35. Class size is limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Registration and pre-payment is required. •The Alliston Historical Society is meeting Wed., May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum on the Boyne. Mary McBride will be speaking on the art of stained glass. Everyone is invited to attend.

•Living Faith Community Presbyterian in Baxter is inviting residents to Wit and Wisdom For Seniors the first Thursday of each month. All ages are welcome. The church is on Murphy Road in Baxter. June 5 will feature someone from the Heart and Stroke Foundation speaking on the risk factors for heart and stroke.

•Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Simcoe is searching for in school mentors in Adjala-Tosorontio and Alliston. If you have an extra hour per week and would like to donate your time, there are children waiting for a special friend to visit them during the school day. •Soroptimist International is a non-profit organization that betters the lives of women and girls locally and abroad. They meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 46 Wellington St. W. in Alliston. The meetings run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. They are expanding and encourage anyone who is interested to attend their meetings. •Come on out and join in on the fun with a Community Euchre Night at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays at St. James Church Hall in Hockley. Admission is $3 and includes a light lunch. Everyone is welcome.

•Alliston Pentecostal Church is providing free Friday night dinners. This takes place every Friday night at the Alliston Fellowship Hall, 41 Paris St. at 5:45 p.m. All are welcome and volunteers are most welcome.

•The Literacy Council of South Simcoe is dedicated to promoting and providing literacy skills in the community and is offering free, confidential tutoring to adults in reading, writing, math and computer basics.

•The South Simcoe Scottish Country Dance Group meets each Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Knox Church Hall, 180 King St. S. in Alliston. The dancing isn’t just for the Scottish; there are dancers from Africa, Asia, North America and Europe. A pair of soft shoes is the only requirement.

•The Alliston MS Support Group meets the first Thursday of the month at the Community Living Association for South Simcoe, 125 Dufferin St., Alliston from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. For further information please contact the MS office at 705-733-0488.
