An Adjala-Tosorontio man was sliced in the face Wednesday after he came home to find a man in his house rifling through his personal documents.

The man returned to his home on the Adjala-Tecumseth Townline at 3:20 p.m. to find a strange van parked in his driveway. He went around to his backdoor and saw a man on his knees going through his desk.

When the accused saw he had been discovered he ran further into the residence, before turning and running back at the victim. The two struggled, and the homeowner began screaming. The accused put his hand over the victim's mouth, and told him to "shut up". He then threatened to kill him, police said.

The robber pulled out a knife and started making stabbing motions towards the homeowner hitting him in the face and cutting him.

The suspect then fled to his van, but the homeower followed and hung on to the van door for a short distance while he drove off.

Police caught up with the suspect on Highway 400, two kilometres north of Highway 88 and arrested him.

The victim was taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

A 49-year-old Kingston man is charged with robbery, break and enter, and uttering threats.

He was held for a bail hearing yesterday.
