News just keeps getting better for local mothers and their babies.
In April the Birthing Unit at Stevenson Memorial Hospital in Alliston was re-opened and now a breastfeeding expert and paediatrician Jack Newman has announced he will be opening a local clinic.
He will be seeing mothers and babies Fridays at the Alliston Breastfeeding Clinic (ABC) in the office of Caring Hands Midwifery Services in Town Square. Appointments are mandatory.
“We are thrilled to have this caliber of support for the families of our community,” said Melissa Cowl prenatal instructor at Birth and BeYond.
Newman was a staff paediatrician at the hospital for Sick Children emergency department and was also been the acting chief of the emergency services.
He founded the first Canadian hospital-based breastfeeding clinic in 1984.
He now works full-time to help mothers and babies succeed with breastfeeding in several Toronto clinics.
