Stevenson Memorial Hospital is getting another emergency room doctor.
The hospital announced today that Dr. Val E. Ginzburg was recruited as a full-time emergency physician. He will also provide some inpatient care, and perform endoscopies.
"The addition of Dr. Ginzburg to the team at SMH will be a great help with coverage in the ER and the medical-surgical floor," said Dr. Oswaldo Ramirez, Chief of the Emergency Department.
Ginzburg received his bachelor's degree in Jerusalem, Israel, before continuing his training at McMaster University in Hamilton, and graduating from the University of Toronto medical school. He completed his family medicine residency at U of T in 2007.
"I came to Alliston to help build a sustainable health care centre that could provide the local community with a variety of medical services and to decrease the need for patients to travel to other centres," he said.
Ginzburg's recruitment is part of an ongoing attempt to bring new doctors to the area by the hospital and the Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee.
